Tom forgets which night the band is practicing. He often arrives late to gigs (and has even left early thinking we were done). His guitar is usually out of tune and he always loses his pick. He sings off key and can never remember the words. But he owns the PA system so we let him stay in the band.
All kidding aside, Tom is the leader and founder of the Poudre River Band. He started playing piano at age six and discovered the wonderful world of guitar at age seven. Early influences were Roger Miller and Chet Atkins. Like most other male guitar players, things changed when the Beatles came to America – must have been those screaming girls. Since then, he has played in rock bands, show bands, duos, and even a 40’s style big band. He has studied guitar styles from Charlie Christian to Jeff Beck.

During the seventies, Tom toured with a popular Colorado country rock
band known as “Sundance”. He was attracted to the vocal harmonies, fast
tempos, and extended instrument solos found in the country rock style.
He dreamed to someday form another country rock band. Building the
Poudre River Band and performing with such talented musicians is his
dream come true!
Equipment: Like most “oldtime pickers”, Tom has a closet (or two) full
of guitars. But his all time favorite electric guitar is a Virtuoso
THC guitar made by Dan Dachel in Laporte, Colorado. On stage, his preferred amp is a Fender
Deluxe Reverb. String choice is Ernie Ball Power Slinky (11-48).
