John Parker - Drums
jparker.jpg

John got his first drum set at age 8 and has been making noise music ever since.  His parents had one simple request – practice at least an hour a day.  Being very tolerant people they managed to hold out for almost a year before saying ‘PLEASE stop practicing 4 hours a day!!’.

He has been performing in bands since 1975 and has added many different styles (Rock, Country, Reggae, R&B and various others) to his repertoire (if someone who doesn’t have to know notes or chords and only has to count to 4 can be said to have a repertoire).

Jack Wisbon - Bass

Often called Wiz, Jack has played in several bands for the past 30-some years.  One of the early escapades was a six-piece band called “Still Roving” which did classic rock and roll with some jam tunes featuring a lead guitarist that was a Jimmy Hendrix twin in every way except age and level of substance abuse.  SR played gigs in the midwest and traveled via a semi-painted school bus with the standard student seating replaced by couches, coolers and friends.  Nothing like partying on top of a school bus cruising down two-lane roads in central Kansas to get you ready for a gig.

Tom Barbour - Guitar

Tom forgets which night the band is practicing. He often arrives late to gigs (and has even left early thinking we were done). His guitar is usually out of tune and he always loses his pick. He sings off key and can never remember the words. But he owns the PA system so we let him stay in the band.

All kidding aside, Tom is the leader and founder of the Poudre River Band.  He started playing piano at age six and discovered the wonderful world of guitar at age seven.  Early influences were Roger Miller and Chet Atkins. Like most other male guitar players, things changed when the Beatles came to America – must have been those screaming girls. Since then, he has played in rock bands, show bands, duos, and even a 40’s style big band. He has studied guitar styles from Charlie Christian to Jeff Beck.
